Lorenzo No.1 is produced from a single olive variety known as Cerasuola. It’s grown organically in one of Sicily’s most prestigious P.D.O. (Protected Denomination of Origin) areas, called Valli Trapanesi. The olives are pressed at low temperatures within 12 hours of being hand-harvesting and only lightly filtered through natural fibres, No.1 is the most characterful and fruity of the three oils in the Lorenzo line. Dense and brilliant green, it displays an powerful fresh fruit, green tomato and a pleasing bitter almond finishing note. It enhances any dish it’s drizzled over or can be eaten as a dip with chunks of freshly baked bread.
Lorenzo Barbera and his brother Vincenzo established a farm just outside Palermo in 1888. The Barbera family has been synonymous with the finest Sicilian extra virgin olive oil ever since. They now export their bottled Mediterranean sunshine to over 30 countries around the world. The pioneering Manfredi Senior created the very first glass-bottled oil and unfiltered “must” oil bottled straight from the mill, changing the world of extra virgin olive oil forever. The pinnacle of their production at the Custonaci oil mill is represented by the three bottlings in the Lorenzo line, which look like fine perfumes and can be found in the kitchens of many Michelin star restaurants
